India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.12%
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Metals, Carbon and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 3.93% or 103.40 points to trade at 2,737.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) added 3.32% or 3.70 points to end at 115.30 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 2.91% or 22.95 points to 811.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which fell 3.08% or 35.60 points to trade at 1,122.00 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.93% or 92.00 points to end at 3,052.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 2.11% or 5.40 points to 250.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.78% to 2,735.15, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 3.36% to settle at 115.35 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.56% to close at 884.65.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 3.20% to 3,044.10 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 2.85% to settle at 1,124.10 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.17% to 250.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1202 to 780 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2117 fell and 1436 advanced, while 154 ended unchanged.
Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.93% or 103.40 to 2,737.00. Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) rose to all time highs; rising 2.91% or 22.95 to 811.35. Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.78% or 99.70 to 2,735.15. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.56% or 13.55 to 884.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.61% to 11.46.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.21% or 4.05 to $1,928.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.74% or 0.55 to hit $73.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.50 to trade at $77.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 82.61, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 90.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 102.09.
