Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.61%
Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Shipbuilding and Machinery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.61% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751), which rose 2.81% or 28.50 points to trade at 1,042.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tosoh Corp. (TYO:4042) added 2.37% or 40.00 points to end at 1,728.00 and Toyobo Co., Ltd. (TYO:3101) was up 2.35% or 25.50 points to 1,111.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506), which fell 3.44% or 214.00 points to trade at 6,003.00 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) declined 3.10% or 128.00 points to end at 4,005.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) was down 2.74% or 92.00 points to 3,260.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1789 to 1789 and 274 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.47% to 20.26.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.88% or 0.65 to $73.21 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.85% or 0.67 to hit $77.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.13% or 2.55 to trade at $1,929.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.20% to 142.35, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 155.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 102.08.
